Layla Bakery – Acton Branch

I visited their newly opened Acton branch at 10 a.m. Most of the products were already gone, and the remaining pastries didn’t feel particularly fresh. It seemed that no baking was being done on-site and that the items might have come from Notting Hill, though I can’t say this for certain. Still, there was a subtle sense of “having travelled” in the taste.

Prices are the same as in Notting Hill on the higher side. The space is simple, clean, and what I would call “simple chic.” The staff were cheerful and energetic, which really lifted the atmosphere.

As someone who has often visited the Notting Hill branch, I didn’t get the same sense of freshness or the aroma of goods baked on-site here in Acton. Still, it’s a pleasant addition to the neighborhood, just one where it helps to keep expectations in balance.
