Landrace is a bakery I stop by every time I’m in Bath. They mill its own heritage grains on a stone mill, which makes their bread not just delicious but a true expression of terroir. This approach gives their loaves a distinctive texture, aroma, and nutritional depth. They also work closely with farmers, selecting specific heritage varieties like emmer, einkorn, and heritage wheat, a core part of their identity.
I don’t quite share the same enthusiasm for their croissants and other laminated pastries, but their bread is absolutely worth trying. They also have a lovely restaurant upstairs, which I’d recommend if you have the time.
